Vindenpawl (Rebecca Wood) is the president of the Federation planet Vrijheid IV (as established in "Security Counsel"). Her leadership skills are brought into question as a result of terrorist activity on her home planet. Later, Vrijheid is selected as a conference location for the Federation ("Beachhead") and her and Admiral Knapp are seen to exchange words. It is at this time where she mentions the now famous line, "Representative democracy can be such a bother."

President Vindenpawl has built a small but steady cult following in the Hidden Frontier Forum site, with many tongue-in-cheek submissions being added to the Vindenpawl/Vrijheid folklore (See submission under Vrijheid IV). One of the most popular of these being the Vrijheid national anthem. Below are the words:
