The USS Valley Forge

The USS Valley Forge is a Galaxy III-class starship assigned to detached duties near Sector 441. While not officially part of the 12th Fleet, she serves in various task forces as needed.

Background Information

  • The Valley Forge is named after the site of the camp of the American Continental Army over the winter of 1777–1778 in the American Revolutionary War. This was a time of great suffering for George Washington's Army, but it was also a time of retraining and rejuvenation. [1]
  • Two vessels of the United States Navy have borne the name Valley Forge, both within the 20th century. The most recent, a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, was commissioned in 1986 and decommissioned in 2004 - she was the first vessel equipped with the AEGIS combat system withdrawn from service. [2]
  • Much as the USS Excelsior, a Galaxy III-class dreadnaught was named after her Excelsior-class predecessor, the Valley Forge was named after her Excelsior-class predecessor, registry NCC-43305. That vessel was destroyed during the First Battle of Chin'toka in 2374.[3]
