The USS Tiananmen

This starship was named after Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China on Earth where in 1989 peaceful student and labor protestors were attacked by the Communist government's armed forces, resulting in the deaths of at least 200 people, and stifling what was a growing democratic movement in the nation.

In early 2368, the Tiananmen was docked at Starbase 234's spacedock for major repairs. It was prematurely deployed, despite the yard superintendents objections, to serve as part of Captain Jean-Luc Picard's task force that blockaded the Klingon-Romulan border during the Klingon Civil War. (TNG - "Redemption II")

In late 2373, the ship was assigned to patrol along the Federation's border with the Cardassian Union. It was reported missing and presumed destroyed by the Jem'Hadar. (DS9 - "In the Cards") The ship was later recovered and would later fight in the Dominion War at the First Battle of Chin'toka in late 2374. It was in this battle where it, the USS Hood and the USS Nautilus assisted the USS Defiant (NX-74205) in destroying the moon that supplied power to the orbital weapon platforms protecting the Chin'toka system. (DS9 - "Tears of the Prophets")

In 2375, the Tiananmen was part of the allied forces engaged in the Battle of Lapolis. During the battle, a Cardassian Galor-class warship and a Dominion heavy dreadnaught broke away from the main theater of battle and attempted to escape to the McAllister Nebula. The USS Devonshire, the USS Rutledge, and the Tiananmen gave pursuit to the fleeing vessels. The Dominion dreadnaught managed to destroy the Tiananmen during the pursuit, with the loss of all hands aboard. (HF 1.01 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 1")
