The Federation starship USS Angeles is a Galaxy III-class vessel, Starfleet registry NCC-71840. The USS Angeles is the third Federation starship to bear the name.

Operational History

During the Dominion War

In 2375, the Angeles bore the brunt of the Breen assault on Earth. (ANG 1.01 - "Return to Duty")

Assignment to Deep Space 12

In 2376, the Angeles and the USS Pathfinder returned to Earth to deliver personnel following the end of the Dominion War. The majority of the Angeles' crew was reassigned to other vessels. The Angeles was refit at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards under the direction of Commander Galassini where the vessel's major systems were "rebuilt from the ground up." The Angeles was assigned to Deep Space 12 to assist the USS Independence. Ensign Jack Norkin was on temporary assignment to help with the shakedown of the Angeles.

While en route, the Angeles was attacked by a Tzenkethi warship, which was destroyed in the battle. The Angeles went to the aid of the USS Macross' when she was attacked by Tzenkethi warships. The Angeles nearly destroyed the entire attacking force, but her transporters went down in an effort to rescue the crew of the Macross. After rescuing the Macross' crew, the Angeles resumed course for DS12. Fleet Captain Jennifer Cole welcomed the Angeles and her crew to the station. The Angeles served as Sector 441's flagship for Deep Space 12 during the initial construction and upgrade of the station, which orbits the planet, Ba'ku. (ANG 1.01 - "Return to Duty")

Later that year, the Angeles was sent by Fleet Captain Cole to attempt to dissipate the plasma storm threatening Ba'ku. The Angeles was hit by a graviton beam from the plasma storm which forced the Angeles to eject its warp core, lest it breach. The Angeles limped back to the station on impulse. Service as Training Vessel

This ship served as a training vessel for Starfleet cadets 18 months after the Dominion War concluded. Commodore Cole joined the Angeles in this mission after Captain Ian Quincy Knapp arrived in 2377 to take command of DS12 and investigate the Grey threat in the Briar Patch. (HF 1.02 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 2")

In 2378, the Angeles returned to the station in time for Cole to serve as part of an informal tribunal investigating the death of a Founder aboard the USS Excelsior. Lieutenant Commander Dave Mason was an observer at this hearing. (HF 2.03 - "Old Wound")

Currently under the command of Commodore Willcocks, the current mission of the Angeles is classified at Level 12 or above, and is on a need-to-know basis.
