Tara Abis is a reporter for the Federation News Service. She is an ambitious young Bajoran, currently assigned to Deep Space 12 to cover the front of the war with the Tholians and Breen
She also covered the prison break by disgraced Cardassian Glinn Betras. As part of her coverage of that news story, she interviewed Lieutenant, junior grade Ro Nevin, who had exposed the conspiracy of which Betras was a part. (HF 4.04 - "Grave Matters") The two shared an instant attraction, and became romantically involved. (HF 6.03 - "Homeport") However, the relationship came to an abrupt end when Ro admitted he had feelings for Lieutenant Corey Aster. (HF 6.05 - "Vigil")
