The Starfleet Marine Corps are a land- and space-based military arm of Starfleet.
In 2378, a detachment of Marines from Deep Space 12 were sent to the planet Ba'ku to fight a Grey terror team. They were able to defeat the Grey, but Rayvan,who had joined the Marines in defense of the Ba'ku villagers, was killed in action. (HF 2.01 - "Refugees")
