Class Specifications

The Sovereign M-class starship is a heavily-modified version of the Sovereign-class starship created as a testbed ship to enhance the combat medical capabilities of Starfleet during periods of escalated conflict. This ship's features include large medical bays, mobile hospital and corpsman units, and enhancements to the holo-imaging systems to enable multiple EMH and LMH programs to operate across larger areas than a sickbay or holodeck.

Class History

At present, the only starship featuring this configuration is USS Angelfire (NCC-75025), currently on an extended pilot program in an effort to test the ability of a Starfleet Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to act effectively as a completely autonomous unit in the field.

Based on the successes and challenges of the Angelfire during field operations, a second ship of the line is being produced, the USS Moffett, which has been assigned a fleet registry of NCC-75034.

Production Notes

• The Moffett noted in this article was originally to be a part of the 23rd Tactical Support Wing, the unit to which the USS Cole is assigned to in Henglaar, M.D.. Once determined to be a medical ship, it was decided by the show's creative team to drop the ship as it would be too similar to the Cole in its purpose and mission.
