Starfleet Career
Aboard the Enterprise-D
Lefler served aboard the Enterprise-D in 2368. She had a brief but passionate encounter with Starfleet Academy cadet Wesley Crusher, who was on leave at the time. She served as mission specialist for a mission exploring the Phoenix Cluster. Together, they managed to foil a plot to hijack the Enterprise ("The Game," TNG).
Aboard the Excalibur
During her time aboard the Excalibur, Lefler forged a friendship with the ship's first officer, Commander Elizabeth Shelby, while serving as Operations Officer and head of the department. She got on with all the other senior officers, most notably Lt. Mark McHenry and Lt. Soleta. Eventually proved herself a capable engineer in her own right, having learnt on the Enterprise under Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge, and then under Lt. Commander Burgoyne 132 on the Excalibur.
Aboard the Excelsior
Lefler was promoted to Lt. Commander and transfered to the USS Excelsior in 2377. She was assigned the position of Chief Engineer, the first time she had ever held such a post. (HF102, "Enemy Unknown, Part 2") One of her first official acts as Chief Engineer was to order a partial replacement of bio-neural circutry that Lieutenant Toby Witczak had troubleshooted it as the source of a system failure which was causing difficulty in aligning the ship's torque sensors. The gelpacks were replaced with older-model isolinear circutry. She served with distinction in her new role, and proved a competent department head, to the point where Shelby was ready to appount her First Officer, until Tolian Naros was assigned to the position. Eventually, after Naros was reassigned to his own command, Lefler finally made the switch from engineering to command, leaving her beloved engines in the capable hand of Corey Aster, her assistant chief. However she did have some transition trouble, and continued to hound Aster before he finally confronted her about this behaviour.
