Personal History
Ro Nevin is a Bajoran assigned to the USS Excelsior. He was raised on Bajor in a very traditional family, and is the brother of Ro Laren, who served aboard the USS Enterprise-D before joining the Maquis. He often felt constrained by having to be the achiever of the family, and is embarrassed by his sister's poor record. Excelling in math and the sciences, Nevin spent much of his time reading. He went to Starfleet Academy, where he roomed with Andrew Barrett and he was friends with Brad Rawlins. He was in a class with Corey Aster in the Academy, but they were only casual friends. After the Academy, he was assigned to the USS Excelsior, under the command of Capt. Ian Quincy Knapp.
Ro snores very loudly. (HF 5.03 - "Darkest Night")
Relationships
He and Andrew Barrett have been best friends since the Academy, where they were roommates (HF 5.03 - "Darkest Night").
After his assignment to the USS Excelsior as science officer, he renewed a friendship (and potential romance) with Corey Aster, a friend from the Academy. This relationship would cause Ro much confusion about his own personal feelings, and reconciling those with his Bajoran religious teachings. (HF 2.05 - "Encke")
Seemingly rejected by Ro Nevin, Corey Aster moves on to a relationship with Jorian Zen Dao. Ro's own personal issues of sexuality would not be resolved until a failed relationship with Tara Abis ("Vigil").
Moving on from his relationship with Abis, Ro found himself involved with the Klingon captain, Nej'ta. Through a ceremony performed known as the R'uustai in which the two become brothers and subsequently, lovers ("Bound"). This relationship ends after Nej'ta's death during the treacherous return of Andrew Barrett and Ro's subsequent abduction at the hands of Siroc.
Once rescued by the USS Helena, Ro returns to Ba'ku and restarts his personal relationship with Corey Aster, who has since broken up from the joined Trill Jorian Dao. Ro and Aster are subsequently married six months after the conclusion of the Tholian/Breen War and the explosion of the Dyson Sphere ("Its Hour Come Round At Last"). Their relationship is tested when Ro is assigned to a mission in the distant Andromeda Galaxy (Star Trek: Odyssey).
Starfleet Career
Starfleet Academy
Ro attended the Academy at the same time with Corey Aster, Andrew Barrett, Marla Durkos, Matt McCabe, Jenna McFarland, and Brad Rawlins. (HF 1.02 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 2") He considered Rawlins a bad pilot especially after many failed attempts in the pilot simulator. (HF 2.04 - "Great Starship Robbery")

In 2377, Ensign Ro was assigned to the USS Excelsior as a Science Officer. (HF 1.02 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 2") During the Battle of Devron, Ro discovered a theta-band hole in the Grey battleship's shields which facilitated the rescue of Captain Ian Quincy Knapp, when he was captured during the battle. (HF 1.02 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 3") He was a part of Commander Elizabeth Shelby's away teams to the USS Perihelion and the unknown vessel, eventually helping develop the solution to the issues the Excelsior was experiencing. (HF 1.05 - "Perihelion")
In 2378, Ro was excited about the breakthroughs in the field of Quantum Slipstream drives and was so confident about the field that he made a bet with Rawlins that the quantum slipstream drive would be a plausible engine within the next year (coincidentally, he lost that bet). During the mission to locate Robin Lefler, Luko, and Toby Witczak, he analyzed the abandoned Federation mission scout. (HF 2.04 - "Great Starship Robbery") Shortly thereafter, he was assigned to work with Ensign Corey Aster during the Encke investigation. During that investigation, he used Tom Corbett, Space Cadet as a basis for hyperdimensional physics, helping lead to the discovery of the tetrahedrons and the reason why the Encke was destroyed. (HF 2.05 - "Encke") Ro was sent to help Lefler with Barrett in engineering after the Excelsior was heavily damaged in a attack by Grey fighters. (HF 2.07 - "Fire In The Heart")
In 2379, Ro was ordered to Science Lab 4 by Lieutenant Matt McCabe. He worked with McCabe to analyzed and study the Tetrahedron keys. In his spare time, he has been studying the tetrahedrons. He has been avoiding Engineering after Aster transferred to the vessel. (HF 3.05 "Modus Operandi")
After serving aboard Excelsior for five years as an Ensign, Ro was promoted in 2382 to Lieutenant, junior grade. Along with Lieutenant Matt McCabe, he has distinguished himself in the study of the Grey, their technology, and the mysterious tetrahedrons.
Abduction by Siroc
Using Andrew Barrett as bait, Siroc abducted Ro due to his contact with the Grey Research Facility on Deep Space 12 and knowledge of the Tetrahedrons themselves. Siroc uses Ro to manipulate the Dyson Sphere at the heart of the Briar Patch for the purposes of opening an inter-dimensional bridge. Siroc ultimately fails.
During this time Glinn Betras uses the opportunity to have revenge on Ro through torture when applying Siroc's mind connection devices. Betras has held a personal grudge against Ro from her first encounter with him on Radjic Six. She was left for dead during the Dyson Sphere explosion.
After the Dyson Sphere explosion and subsequent transformation of the Briar Patch in 2383, Ro received a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Because of his intricate understanding of the mechanics of the Quantum Slipstream drive, Ro Nevin was assigned to the U.S.S. Odyssey as Chief Science Officer, for their mission to the Andromeda Galaxy. However, although the mission was successful in destroying the Archein's means to generate a stable wormhole to the Milky Way, the Odyssey lost it's slipstream drive, and their means of returning home. With the deaths of Captain T'Lek, Commander Conner, and Chief Engineer Blix, Ro was forced to take command of the ship. Although Starfleet believes the Odyssey to be lost, Ro has managed to keep the Odyssey more or less functional, one step ahead of the Archein forces that are still hunting them down.
Alternate Timeline
When the original USS Excelsior fell through a temporal anomaly, it resulted an in altered history, where the Federation laid waste to the Klingon Empire in response to the assassination of the President of the United Federation of Planets. The Q, as punishment, led the Borg to the Federation, who then decimated both the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, after which only a handful of ships remained. This fleet, under the overall command of Admiral Alynna Nechayev, was led by Captain John Edward Knapp, in command of the Galaxy III-class USS Excelsior. Ensign Ro was in the Command Division, assigned to Engineering aboard the Excelsior. (HF 2.02 - "Yesterday's Excelsior")
