Mason

Pirate Captain Mason (Jonathan Connor-Foertsch), is a member of the Orion Syndicate, who was captured by Commodore Cole and the USS Independence ("Heroes") after Mason faked a distress signal from the starship USS Redlands. The distress signal distracted the Independence long enough for him to attack and loot a Ferengi vessel of two artifacts they were carrying.
Mason, a human member of the Syndicate, first claimed he was a privateer freelancing for the Tzenkethi. But after the Independence’s crew retrieved what turned out to be two tetrahedron keys from his cargo hold, he admitted under questioning that he was an Orion pirate working for a mysterious, powerful and dangerous man seeking the keys.
Mason was tried and convicted on charges of piracy and accessory to murder for his part in the death of Lieutenant Toby Witczak ("Great Starship Robbery").
He had been serving out his sentence at the Tantalus V penal colony when Commander Tolian Naros offered him his freedom in exchange for information regarding the location of additional tetrahedron keys. He was released upon his completion of the bargain Naros had struck with him.
His current whereabouts and status are unknown, as are the status and whereabouts of his wife and child, though it is assumed that he has taken his family underground to avoid retribution from Siroc and his agents.
