Joseph Johns is a human Starfleet officer with the rank of Captain.

Starfleet Career

In 2376, Johns held the rank of Commander and he visited the city of Paris. (ANG 1.01 - "Return to Duty") Commander Johns was assigned to Deep Space 12 as its Executive Officer. He requested the duty as soon as the position was opened. This would mark the beginning of an eight-year working relationship between Johns and Jennifer Cole.

Shortly thereafter, He was ordered to take the USS Independence and evacuate the population of Ba'ku after a plasma storm threatened the planet. (ANG 1.02 - "A Little Night Music")

Deep Space 12

In 2377, Commander Johns asked Ensign Jenna McFarland if she would like to transfer to the USS Excelsior and she agreed. (HF 1.02 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 2")

Encounter with the RMS Titanic

In 2377, Commander Johns was temporarily assigned to the Independence as the ship's commander. He chose Lieutenant Commander Myra Elbrey, Lieutenant William Martinez, and Ensign Andrew Barrett to help fill some senior officer positions. After the Independence was damaged in an attack by a rogue Federation time ship from the future, Commander Johns ordered the Independence to go through the temporal anomaly which brought them to the year 1912. Johns led an away team to the RMS Titanic when futuristic technology was detected on the vessel. Johns was stopped by Lightoller, pilot of the rogue timeship, but Elbrey was able to stun him.

Johns interrogated Lightoller, who gave clues that the Titanic was not supposed to have sunk, but history still records the sinking of the Titanic. He decided to rescue the people who were trapped on the Titanic and who was recorded as died on the vessel. Johns led the Independence into battle against the rogue timeship with help from the Causality. Johns self-destructed the Independence next to the rogue timeship in the middle of the temporal anomaly to keep the time ship from following the Causality. In the restored timeline, Johns was compelled to work on his model of the Titanic. (HF 1.04 - "Two Hours")

USS Independence

Upon now-Commodore Cole's return to the station, she resumed her command of the Independence. Johns continued to serve with her as the ship's Executive Officer, while James Darwin assumed the XO position aboard Deep Space 12.

USS Legacy

Personal Life

Johns' father was the Commander-in-Chief, Starfleet as of 2376, which he felt could be a real pain sometimes. (ANG 1.02 - "A Little Night Music")

Joseph is an amateur RMS Titanic historian, having built a model of the Titanic which resides in his ready room aboard the USS Legacy.
