The Intrepid-class Starship

The Intrepid-class starship entered into Starfleet service in the 2370's. It was designed as a new breed of vessel, incorporating new technological advances, such as the bio-neural gel pack computer systems with quicker response time and processing speeds compared to isolinear chips. It also demonstrates new advances in warp theory with the use of variable-geometry warp nacelles that realign into different positions depending on speed.

The resilience of this class was demonstrated most aptly by the USS Voyager, which was lost deep in the Delta Quadrant for seven years, with no regular overhauls or access to any familiar starbases.
