New opening
As with previous seasons, this season premiere introduced a new opening credits sequence.
Personnel changes
Near the end of this episode, Robin Lefler becomes the USS Excelsior's new first officer after Tolian Naros becomes captain of the USS Helena. Corey Aster becomes the next chief enginner of the Excelsior.
Ro Nevin now has the rank of full Lieutenant and Corey Aster is now a Lieutenant Commander.
