Summary
Hidden Frontier Season 4 launched with Part 2 of "Hell's Gate," in which the Tholian's directly challenge the Federation's presence in the Briar Patch, while Commander Naros teaches the Federation how to traverse the Patch at warp speed. Renegade Starfleet officers lead a "Piracy of the Noble" to expose Cardassian war crimes. In "Addictions," Doctor Henglaar must confront a drug cartel that threatens the Federation and his own family. Lt. Aster and Ensign Ro deal with "Grave Matters" surrounding a dark secret behind their discovery of hundreds of dead Bajorans on a lifeless world. Then, Lt. Aster reaches a "Crossroads" in his personal life as the USS Excelsior leads a Federation fleet to defend against a Tholian attempt to steal the Cardassian-held tetrahedron. Season 4 concludes with Part 1 of "Entanglement," in which the USS Excelsior tracks down a connection between the Orion Syndicate and the Tholian's ally, the mysterious Siroc, and Doctor Henglaar has to come to terms with long-buried emotions about his former lover, Sou, and her Klingon husband, Qu'qul.

Background Information
The fourth season of Hidden Frontier premiered in 2003. From this season forward, the series' seasons feature six episodes, a decision by the producers to ensure higher-quality episodes. The fourth season is also notable for a fan-written script, "Grave Matters," the third episode of the show's "gay arc." The episode was penned by Carlos Pedraza, who later joined the crew as a staff writer for the fifth and sixth seasons.
