Looking back in order to move forward is the focus of "In Memory Of," about a comrade slain in battle by the Grey. "Modus Operandi" introduces the Excelsior's evasive new First Officer, Tolian Naros, a six-centuries-old El-Aurian intent on unlocking the secrets of the tetrahedrons. The Q make two appearances in Season 3, one in "Santa Q," where the Q toys with the crew of the Excelsior. "Ashes" brings an uncomfortable reunion between Ensign Ro and Lt. Aster, and "Voyage of the Defiant" features the crew reliving the Starfleet of yore. In Part 1 of "Hell's Gate," the season concludes with the introduction of a centuries-old villain at the center of the Briar Patch's growing conspiracy.

Background Information
The third season of Hidden Frontier premiered in 2002 and is one of only two seasons in the show's run that featured nine episodes. The third season is also notable for a fan-written script, "Voyage of the Defiant," that featured the return of the Constitution-class starship, the U.S.S. Defiant, which was lost in the episode, "The Tholian Web" (TOS).
The episode, "In Memory Of," incorporated footage originally shot for an unproduced episode of the Angeles fan series.
