Grey Confederacy
From Hidden Frontier
The Grey Confederacy is still largely a mystery to the Federation and are a level three civilization. The Grey are led by the telepathic Ethereals, who employ footsoldiers to do their dirty work, frustrating Starfleet's attempt to explore the Briar Patch and solve the mysteries of the tetrahedrons. Grey battleships use biomechanical hull plating. It was theorized by Rayvan that the metaphasic particles found within both the Briar Patch and the McAllister Nebula could enhance the strength of their plating.
The main tactic used by the Grey were attack by using their psionics and take over the minds of the their enemy. Then they would take captured enemy and leave the area. Commander Elizabeth Shelby compared them to the Borg. (HF 1.06 - "Echoes")
