Class Specifications

The Galaxy-class shares a similar design lineage with its slightly smaller Nebula-class counterpart. It also serves as the foundation for the Galaxy III-class and Galaxy IV-class dreadnaughts.

The Galaxy-class design has two hull sections, a saucer-shaped primary hull and a secondary hull on which were mounted the two warp nacelles. The class is capable of reversible saucer separation and each is equipped with independent flight and combat capabilities. Generally, civilians and non-essential personnel evacuate to the saucer module while the senior staff confront a threat in the battle section, which contains the majority of the vessel's defensive systems.
