First contact

From Hidden Frontier

First Contact is the name designated by Starfleet for the first meeting with an alien species. Some 'first contacts' have gone well while others have led to disasterous results. It is due to these failed First Contacts that Starfleet Command issued several General Orders including the Prime Directive.
