From Hidden Frontier

Jump to: navigation, search

The Hidden Frontier family of shows, which includes Star Trek: Hidden Frontier, Star Trek: Odyssey, Star Trek: The Helena Chronicles, Star Trek: Federation One, Star Trek: Grissom and Henglaar, M.D., are considered fan productions. They build on the broadcast Star Trek television and movie franchise. Because CBS/Paramount owns the copyright and licenses to those shows and characters, fan productions have to honor that copyright by not making any profits from using their characters, stories, logos, etc.

Rob Caves and his Hidden Frontier Productions group has been making these films for almost tenyears, and they have always honored that unwritten rule of not generating any profits from the Star Trek characters. However, when they need equipment, or supplies, or materials necessary to make these fanfilm shows of such quality, the money comes directly out of the pockets of these volunteers for things such as lighting, props, makeup, fabric, costumes, software, recording media, cameras and lenses, horghans, red goo, shellfish, and other things, it all adds up. Fast. It takes a lot of red goo to keep a Grand Majan satisfied these days!

Knowing this, fans who appreciate the films being made have contributed to these production expenses. The donations are handled very carefully and used only for the supplies and materials and equipment needed for the productions. No one is making an profit or using the donations for anything except helping to make these films happen.

Fans who wish to contribute to the fund to help out the group to continue making these great shows can learn more by going here.
