FAQ: Angeles

From Hidden Frontier

Jump to: navigation, search

Voyages of the USS Angeles (ANG) is a fan-made series produced prior to 2000. It cannot currently be found on the Internet due to the club's standing rules. Star Trek: Hidden Frontier spun off from the Angeles series, inheriting its setting, and some of its cast and crew.

The Voyages of the USS Angeles series was produced for its cast and crew only. No copies are available either on the Internet or any other media (e.g., VHS/DVD). The Angeles club in Southern California that produced the show did not want to tempt Paramount's lawyers, so they restricted the video to private home use only by the cast and crew involved in its production. With the extremely rare exception of a one-time special presentation of the Angeles movie at Excelsior Ball II, that decision remains in effect today, so no Angeles episodes are available to the public at all. No reference to the show is even made on the club's Web site.

Some footage from the Angeles series that was shot but never produced into episodes became part of early Star Trek: Hidden Frontier episodes, "To The Stars" and "In Memory Of."

Update - Spring 2009: As with many things, the prevailing winds shift, and the USS Angeles is now working with Hidden Frontier to make the season of episodes that was produced available for download to the public. The series will be released first and contains five episodes. The prequel movie, USS Angeles: The Price of Duty will be remastered and released sometime after that. The first episode, "Return to Duty", is scheduled for release in late July 2009. More information will be posted as news becomes available on these releases.

Additionally the USS Angeles is developing an Audio Series based on the new adventures of the USS Angeles set in the current Hidden Frontier timeframe. Hidden Frontier Productions is set to assist in the production and release of the new audio series as needed.
