- 1.) Generic term for any small, self-powered, emergency-use sublight craft that is carried aboard a larger vessel, such as a starship. Used as a method of abandoning a vessel when said vessel is no longer capable of sustaining the life form(s) it has aboard, or during emergency situations when loss of the vessel is imminent.
