The Constitution-class Starship
The Constitution-class starship was launched some time prior to 2245, and served as Starfleet's front-line vessels for the rest of that century. The Constitution-class also served as a deterrent to both the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Star Empire, taking part in missions which determined the fate of the entire Federation if not the Alpha Quadrant itself. They had several different mission objectives including exploring unknown space, first contact with new alien races, supplying Federation colonies, delivering medical supplies, transporting diplomats, and defending Federation space
