Chief of Operations

The Chief of Operations (also known as Operations Officer, Operations Manager or simply "Ops") is a Starfleet position which became common in the 24th century. They are charged with maintaining internal systems control, some communications and sensor system functions, along with the scheduling of resources, hardware and system usage for an entire starship, outpost or space station.
On space stations, the Chief of Operations usually commands the maintenance and engineering staff, as stations do not require the large number of propulsion-related engineers typically found working under the command of a Chief Engineer on a starship.
