Starfleet Career
Aboard the Excelsior
Started his service aboard the Excelsior in 2377 as an Ensign. He became quite a regular visitor to sickbay due to his repeated use of the Holodeck for snowboarding. He needed to report to sickbay 3 times in 1 month alone. (HF1.02, "Enemy Unknown, Part 2")
He also was on duty when the Excelsior detected an energy surge of an unusual nature in then-Commodore Knapp's quarters aboard Deep Space 12 (Santa Q). This marks the first time that Starfleet sensor equipment has detected the appearance of a Q within their sensory range - though it is speculated now that Q may have deliberately caused himself to be detected in such a manner.
During Operation Beta Shield
Lieutenant Capell served as a bridge watch officer while Excelsior was on patrol in the Zeta Voltanis system.
Slow Promotion Progress
Capell didn't enjoy the rapid promotion rate of his colleagues aboard Excelsior, possibly due to the high number of injuries he sustained. While a capable pilot, he frequently found himself on the sidelines during the majority of the Tholian-Breen war. He only recently made the rank of Lieutenant, Senior Grade.
