Braidan
From Hidden Frontier
Braidans are humans from the Federation colony of Braida. Forced to survive on a hostile and irradiated planet without outside help for nearly a century, Braidans created biomechanical implants which allowed them to adapt their biochemistry.
Though often seen as similar to Borg, this is a misunderstanding based on fear and ignorance. Braidans are unable to assimilate others, create nanites or interface with every computer they come across. Braidans have never formed a collective, nor taken any step that would lessen individuality.
Braidans are rarely encountered away from their homeworld, though a few serve in Starfleet, including Dr. Mordan Ness.
The Braidan race was created for Areakt Productions' series The Helena Chronicles and the first appearance of a Braidan was in Helena Chronicles' pilot episode, Sanctuary Lost.
