Starfleet Career
Starfleet Academy
Brad Rawlins went to Starfleet Academy with Ro Nevin, Corey Aster, and Andrew Barrett. During the pilot training simulators, he was not very good, and Nevin considered him a bad pilot. (HF 2.04 - "Great Starship Robbery")
At Starfleet Command
After graduating from the Academy, Ensign Rawlins was assigned to Starfleet Command.
Onboard the USS Excelsior
In 2377, Rawlins transferred to the USS Excelsior as a communications officer. (HF 1.02 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 2") During the Battle of Devron, Ensign Rawlins acted as the liaison between the task force's flagship, the Excelsior, and the rest of the fleet. (HF 1.03 - "Enemy Unknown, Part 3") He was chosen to be a liasion to visiting ambassadors at Deep Space 12, an assignment that he did not relish; when Captain Ian Quincy Knapp messed up his weekly address, with the ambassadors present, he was forced to give them free passes to the holosuite as "compensation". (HF 1.06 - "Echoes")
In 2378, he made a bet with Nevin that the Quantum Slipstream drive would be a failure like the Transwarp drive. The winner of the bet would be able to get a free trip to Risa. (HF 2.04 - "Great Starship Robbery")
Alternate Timeline
When the original USS Excelsior fell through a temporal anomaly, it resulted an in altered history, where the Federation laid waste to the Klingon Empire in response to the assassination of the President of the United Federation of Planets. The Q, as punishment, led the Borg to the Federation, who then decimated both the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, after which only a handful of ships remained. This fleet, under the overall command of Admiral Alynna Nechayev, was led by Captain John Edward Knapp, in command of the Galaxy III-class USS Excelsior. Ensign Rawlins served as an Operations officer on the Excelsior. He was killed in battle against the Borg. (HF 2.02 - "Yesterday's Excelsior")
