Bajoran wormhole

Located in the Bajoran region of space, a subspace edifice known as a wormhole connects the Alpha and Gamma Quadrants of the Milky Way Galaxy. The wormhole is currently under the supervision of Starfleet personnel stationed at Deep Space 9, under the command of Captain Kira Nerys.

The wormhole was a key point in several conflicts inside the Alpha Quadrant, as well as between the Federation Alliance and The Dominion. <P>The wormhole is the only fully stable wormhole known to exist and is inhabited by life forms Bajorans worship as religious figures they call Prophets, whose lives are not confined to a linear existance and often appear as images of other known people to the individual(s) viewing them.
