Bajor
From Hidden Frontier
The planet Bajor is a Federation planet, one of two planets in its 14 planet solar system that supports life (DS9 "Past Prologue") and has five moons, of which many also support life (DS9 "Progress"). Located on the edge of Federation space, it was once occupied by the Cardassian Union and is in a region of space that would give either the Federation or the Cardassians a strategic foothold into the other's territory.
When the Federation made Bajor a protectorant, it took control of the former Cardassian station known as Terok Nor and redesignated it Deep Space 9 (DS9 "Emissary"). Bajor often became a site for conflict upon discovery of the Bajoran wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant in 2369 by powers from the Gamma, Alpha, and Beta Quadrants also gained interest in Bajor and at times in occupation of the planet as a result (DS9).
The Bajoran people have a long history of culture and spirituality. They achieved warp drive approximately 800 years ago (TNG "Ensign Ro"; DS9 "Explorers").
The Bajoran Militia became incorporated into Starfleet once Bajor became a Federation member.
