Auxiliary power

Auxiliary power refers to the energy reserve aboard starships which can be used in the event that the vessel's main power is, for some reason, unavailable. Its capacity is limited, intended for short-term use only. Auxiliary power can also be used as a means to strengthen certain systems (such as shields or structural integrity fields) at the discretion of the commanding officer.
